so we were looking for some female fronted metal to write about and just then seventh seeker sended us their first ep "angel's temptation", a really nice sounding production offering some solid melodic metal tunes.
singer daisy performs some beautiful vocals on that record, showing a good sense for melodies these 4 tracks may not be the heaviest in their genre but they definitely rock.
the drums which are also performed by a female, show off well arranged beats and a skilled style of playing, along with that come catchy guitar rhythms hightlighted with magnificent solos, also the acoustic guitar performance on "sunburnt" is definitely more that mediocre.
all of these 4 songs have a good potential to be great hymns, but unfortunately they get a bit tiring at some point. I was missing a change in tempo, something that would knock me off my chair and wake me up from this midtempo choma.
although i enjoyed this ep i was also hoping for a notable "seventh seeker" feature that would distinguish them from other melodic metal acts, anyway "angel's temptation" offers suitable headbang hymns, good instrumental skills and a whole lot of melody, if you are into that kind of metal you should absolutely give them a shot!

"attention everyone: the unpleasent noise your'e about to hear is not a mistake" - prepare for  kickass uk metalcore, "of ghosts" have published their record "monster" in 2012 and man those guys got some serious fangs. brutish vokills tear up your vocal chords while you're screaming along to massive hooklines like "...your fear is my devotion" on the opener "to the depths", to name just one of them. those vocals climax in a demonic performance that is recorded on the last track "XV".
the hellish guitars made me wanna destroy, those riffs are totally designed to express maximum anger while still sounding exciting and not overproduced. the catchy headbang rythms are perfectly arranged with great accents, for example the first riffs of the second song "highgate empire" reminded me of '"slayer" creating a rad combination with the pounding riffs that fulfill this track. this power has also been realised in the drumming, double base trampling and driving beats that gave me a huge neck pain.
two songs got some special attention while i was listening to them, one of them is "green mirror" it's the sixth track on the record, it suddenly switches to electronic beats and a soothing melody this was awkward, unexpected and absolutely awesome.
the following one called "the ferryman" is one of the greatest instrumentals i've ever heard, you hear the sound of waves getting overlayed by a gentle piano theme and a spooky choir,  i think that this one is referring to the myth of charon the ferryman of hades, at least it gave me the feeling of being carried across the rivers styx and acheron, also the cover cover artwork that shows an absorbing photograph of a lonely boat may be alluding to him.
"of ghosts" have created a record that is now one of my favorite metalcore publications, this "monster" is dragging you straight to hell.


icosian_when i stopped calling it home

"when i stopped calling it home" started to bewitch me with it's amazing cover artwork that is a collaboration of 2 artists. sab kay (nothing is heavy) and bryan shepherd (raining brains) perfectly pictured this record's sound and feeling on the cover. the music of "icosian" is a mixture of grooving guitar and bass passages, hammering drums and a well arranged composition of gutturals and clean vocals, especially the clean vocal parts were a nice earmark that i really enjoyed. the trampling guitar riffs are absolutely driving and played very precisely, they build up a powerful "sound-wall" while cooperating with the awesome sounding bass. 
the combination of both, technical and grooving riffs  made me wanna mosh but that isn't the full experience, beneath all these brute parts the band also left space for passages that let you calm down with wonderful atmospheric melodies, altogether really good songwriting.
i think that the song "vices" is perfectly revealing the potential of the 5 members, showing off  some instrumental skills and catchy vocals lines that could easily stand their ground next to today's genre veterans, in general all of the tracks performed on "when i stopped calling it home" provide well-skilled and diverting prog metal consisting of nice melodies and of course pit-heating brutality.
